Terms and Conditions
in regard to participating in the
Choir for the Mass on 19th September
at Coventry Airport.
1. There is no number to telephone regarding questions about the Beatification Mass. All communication must be by e-mail. Use the Contact page in the BEATIFICATION menu above. Please do not use the other Contact page in the general menu for this purpose. Thank you.
2. If you do not have an e-mail address, please ask to share one with another singer.
3. You need to register online to be included in the choir. Use the form in the menu above, Please, ask another singer to register your details if you do not have an internet connection.
4. For reasons of security, names and addresses of all people in the choir are needed. You won’t get a security pass to enter the choir area on the day – and won’t be able to sing with the choir - without this information being registered.
5. There are special arrangements for the registration of singers under the age of eighteen. When singers from this age group register, they will receive a Safeguarding Form by e-mail that must be filled in and posted to the secretary of the organising committee (or completed forms can be brought to the first area rehearsal).
6. Your personal details are being kept in a secure database. Access to that database is restricted to some members of the Archdiocese of Birmingham Liturgy Commission, Church Music Committee and the diocesan Safeguarding Co-ordinator. Details will not be passed on to any other persons.
7. Bulk e-mail posting will be addressed to beatification@abcm.org.uk.
The mail subject will be “Beatification”. Please set your spam filter to receive mail so addressed.
8. Ability / Commitment
An ability to sing is required. Music-reading skills will help but are not absolutely necessary. Enthusiasm to learn is what’s needed.
Attendance at six area rehearsals is required. (See menu above)
You may not simply buy a choir book and learn the music in your parish or on your own - you must attend the area rehearsals.
Attendance at a rehearsal on Saturday 11th September (1.30 pm at Saint Catherine of Siena church, Bristol Street) in Birmingham is required. (Security passes for the choir area will be distributed at this rehearsal. If you are not at this rehearsal – no security pass – no choir place for you on the day).
Attendance at Coventry on 19th September – the choir must be in place, ready to start rehearsal at 6.00 am. There will be a two-hour rehearsal and then a break. The choir will reassemble at 9.00 am. Music for the Mass begins at 9.45 am.
We will try to accommodate singers with disabilities. Please fill in details of how we can help in the registration form.
9. You will need to buy a Choir Music Book. These will be distributed at the first area rehearsal. They will cost £5 each.(Cash or cheque - no card payment facility will be available)
10. A gruelling day - On 19th September, your transport will stop some distance from the choir area. There will be a long walk for you before
the 6.00 am rehearsal.
You will need to bring suitable clothing. We are singing outside.
You will need to be able to climb tiered seating (although singers
unable to do so will be accommodated at ground level).
You will need to bring drinks and a packed meal.
It will all be worth it!!
